Bridging the Divide: Part Three

Bridging the Divide: Part Three has just been completed.  QFT Education, in partnership with the Educational Shakespeare Company, Donegall Pass Young Men and Women's Group and Mornington Community Project, screened  the premiere of the short film Tunnel Vision - girls in the re:mix! at QFT on Sat 24 May 2008. This was followed by the screening of the 'Making Of' documentary, and discussion with those who took part in the project. Supported by Belfast City Council.

Current QFT Outreach Projects:

Camera Kidz - a group of children who have attended the QFT beginners' digital filmmaking course meet monthly and are working on a new film.

Their previous film called The Boy who Didn't Believe (in Fairytales), was screened at QFT and shortlisted for the Young Filmmakers Competition at Cinemagic. Just completed, spoof news programme 'Channel 7645'.

A new project starting in September 2008. See details below to join the Camera Kidz. Some places available.

Borders 2008

This year the new Borders film 'Botanic Garden' was shot in Belfast in April 2008.

Bridging the Divide: Part One

QFT has been coordinating a cross community film project for young people called Bridging the Divide since 2006, with the support of the Belfast City Council. Part One has now been completed and resulted in three short films being made as well as a documentary of the process.


Bridging the Divide: Part Two

The public screening of Blow Out, a short film devised, scripted and performed by young people from Donegall Pass and Mornington community groups took place at QFT on Tuesday 29th May.

This short film and accompanying documentary is the result of Bridging the Divide: Two - a QFT Outreach project, in partnership with the Educational Shakespeare Company (www.escni.com) and two local community groups.

There was a short introduction and post film discussion, with all the people involved in the project present. This event was of special interest to youth groups, youth workers, teachers or anyone with an interest in community arts and film and was supported by the Belfast City Council.

The Tourists

The Tourists was a short film animation project for over 16s completed in 2005 with Joel Simon of Flickerpix.

European Borders project

Lat year QFT took part in a European film project with the Irish Film Institute in Dublin and Cinema Palais in Paris , in association with The Simon Community, Belfast , and Bradog Youth Service, Dublin . This educational community short movie, made by young people, aims to challenge the idea of Borders and to inspire debate.
