Seraphine
A sensation in France where it won seven César awards, Séraphine tells the story of the painter Séraphine de Senlis, an ordinary woman who produced extraordinary paintings.
Séraphine de Senlis (1864-1942) was very much a real person, a village cleaning woman who turned out to be a Primitive artist possessed of a powerful talent. Driven by the performance of a lifetime by Belgium-born actress Yolande Moreau, Séraphine tells the story of this singular artist and shows how ordinary life, extraordinary artistic ability and eccentric mental states can all co-exist in the same person.
