Ken Russell: The Iconoclast

Over a career spanning more than 50 years Russell has directed some of the most memorable and outrageous films ever to grace a cinema screen. From his early days directing arts documentaries for the BBC, Russell cut a subsequent swathe through British film culture with his irreverent interpretations of history, provocative depictions of sexuality and over-the-top visual style.

A keen interest in the lives of other artists and the creative process has informed many of his films and this short season celebrates his unique contribution to British film and explores his very individual take on artistic genius.
