Holy Motors
What do you get if you mix Kylie Minogue and Edith Scob (Eyes Without a Face) with a pinch of surrealism and the great actor Denis Lavant? Well, you get something very like Holy Motors, a visionary, out-of-this-world experience that wowed audiences at this year's Cannes Film Festival.
Director Leos Carax's first film since 1999, Holy Motors follows Monsieur Oscar (Denis Lavant),a strange, shifty character as he goes about Paris in his stretch limo, adopting a series of different personae as he goes (and encountering the aforementioned Kylie en route). This doesn't really begin to describe the actual experience of watching Holy Motors though - loopy, dreamlike and truly bizarre it really does need to be seen to be believed.

What the critics say
"Leos Carax's Holy Motors is weird and wonderful, rich and strange, barking mad, in fact."
