Ginger and Rosa
From the acclaimed director of Orlando (1992), Yes (2004) and Rage (2009), Ginger & Rosa is the story of two girlhood friends growing up in 1960s London, they play truant together, discuss religion, politics and hairstyles, and dream of lives bigger than their mothers' frustrated domesticity.
Elle Fanning gives an astonishing performance as aspiring activist Ginger whose preoccupation with the Hiroshima attack is exacerbated by the Cuban missile crisis and her academically motivated, pseudo-libertarian father, Roland (Alessandro Nivola).
As the cold war meets the sexual revolution, and the threat of nuclear holocaust escalates, the lifelong friendship of the two girls is shattered - by the clash of desire and the determination to survive.
A portrait of changing times and sexual mores, Ginger and Rosa also features Annette Bening and Mad Men’s Christina Hendricks.
