Cherrybomb
Locally produced story of teen love and rivalry with rising stars Rupert Grint and Robert Sheehan.
The screening on Fri 7 May will be introduced by the film's directors, who will also take part in a Q&A after the screening.
Finally getting a well deserved release, Cherrybomb marks the feature debut of Belfast based directors Lisa Barros D'Sa and Glenn Leyburn.
Now that their exams are over, Malachy (Rupert Grint) and Luke (Robert Sheehan) are out to have the best summer ever. The arrival of Michelle (Kimberley Nixon), gorgeous but troubled, tests their friendship however as she encourages the two boys to carry out increasingly dangerous and illegal stunts in the battle for her affections.
Set against the backdrop of Belfast as a city in the process of reconstructing its identity, Cherrybomb neatly sidesteps sectarian issues, focusing instead on the lives and loves of the teenagers involved. Refreshing and immensely enjoyable, Cherrybomb is a breath of fresh air.
