The second feature from Irish director Maeve Murphy, Beyond the Fire is a tender, passionate and sexually frank love story set against a backdrop of contemporary London.
Sheamy is a gentle Irish ex-priest recently released from prison. Arriving in London he searches for his former mentor, Father Brendan. When he fails to find the priest he contacts the only other person he knows in London, Rory. A musician, Rory takes Sheamy under his wing and introduces him to his band’s manager, Katie. There is an instant attraction between Sheamy and Katie but there is also pain; Katie is the survivor of a vicious rape while Sheamy has his own dark secrets...
